🎭 Use Your Own Story and Choose Your Characters’ Looks

Paste a chapter you wrote, keep your words, and decide how each character looks: describe the look, upload a picture you already have, or reuse a character you saved before.

Describing your characters is optional. Character by character, you can describe a look and have it drawn, upload your own picture, or reuse a saved design.

  1. 1

    Paste your chapter

    Paste your chapter

Open Make a movie and choose Quick Video Story. Paste one chapter into “Story, script, or action request”. Copy the text from your document instead of uploading a Word or PDF file. You can add a short description of each character, for example “Clara, 28, curly brown hair, yellow blouse”. Then choose the Video language and Style.

  2. 2

    Keep your writing

    Keep your writing

Choose Keep my writing to film your plot and words as written, then click Run stage 1: Develop Script and read the script. If you would rather have your outline written into full scenes, choose Develop my story.

  3. 3

    Open a character card

    Open a character card

In References, click Run stage 2: Generate References. Each character gets a card, and the total for the pictures is on the Generate References button before anything is charged. Click a character's picture or name to open its card: that picture is the look every clip keeps. If you have your own pictures, add them (step 5) before you press Generate References.

  4. 4

    Option A: describe the look

    Option A: describe the look

Click Edit. In “Design (what every clip must keep)”, write the age, face, skin tone, hair, clothes and anything distinctive. If the REF image prompt box below it has text, make it match your design, or empty it so the design is used. Save & redraw REF draws a new picture, with its price on the button; Save text only changes the words and keeps the picture. Check the new picture before you make videos: a redraw can change the face.

  5. 5

Option B: upload your own picture

Option B: upload your own picture

On the character's card, click Replace…. In Pick Image, choose local, then Choose File, and pick your picture: it is uploaded and used right away. The other tabs hold images you already have here; pick one and click Use Selected. Uploading does not change the card's description: if they disagree, click Edit, correct the description and choose Save text only, so your picture is kept.

  6. 6

Option C: reuse a character you saved before

Option C: reuse a character you saved before

This one happens in the Script step, before Run stage 1. Use the same character name as before. Under “Matched from your previous designs”, click the character and press Use. A suggestion alone is not selected: check that it shows Selected and that the selected count went up. If several saved designs share a name, look at each and choose the right one.

  7. 7

    Draw only the missing pictures

    Draw only the missing pictures

Here Clara has an uploaded picture and Miguel a reused design; both stay in place when the project is reloaded. Only the café still needs a picture. Click Run stage 2: Generate References: pictures you already have are kept, and the price counts only the new ones.

  8. 8

Check the pictures on each clip

Check the pictures on each clip

In Plan & Generate, every clip card lists the reference pictures it uses. Make sure the right characters are there: Change swaps a picture, and + Add REF adds one. The total is on the Generate Videos button before anything is charged; press it to make the clips.

The finished test clip (12 seconds): Clara from an uploaded picture, Miguel from a saved design. A reference keeps a character recognizable, but small details can vary, so watch your clips before you assemble them.
